Temporary Resident to PR Pathway

The temporary resident to permanent resident pathway closed on November 5, 2021.
Introduction:
The temporary resident to permanent resident pathway is a limited-time pathway to permanent residence. It is for certain temporary residents who are currently working in Canada and their families.
You may be eligible for permanent residence if you have work experience in Canada in an essential occupation or the health or health services field OR you recently graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
There are 6 streams in this pathway:
- Workers in Canada: health care
- Workers in Canada: essential, non-health care
- Recent international graduates from a Canadian institution
- French-speaking workers in Canada: health care
- French-speaking workers in Canada: essential, non-health care
- French-speaking recent international graduates from a Canadian institution

Eligibility Criteria
- Have completed a program of study at a Canadian designated learning institution no earlier than January 2017, and been granted credential
- CLB of at least 5 in either English or French
- Must be employed in Canada with a valid permit or authorization to work at the time the application is received
- Be living in Canada on valid temporary status, or be eligible for restoration of status
- Intend to reside in a province or territory other than Quebec
- Meet admissibility requirements

Eligibility Criteria
- Have one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent part time experience (1,560 hours) in Canada in an eligible occupation in the three years preceding the application date. (Cannot be self-employed unless working as a medical doctor in a fee-for-service with a health authority)
- CLB of at least 4 in English or French in all language abilities
- Be employed in Canada in any occupation at the time of application
- Be living in Canada on valid temporary status, or be eligible for restoration of status
- Intend to reside in a province or territory other than Quebec
- Meet admissibility requirements
