Introduction:

The NBPNP policy has been revised, and there are currently four categories including:


Skilled Worker Stream

The New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream is specially designed for foreigners who will contribute to the New Brunswick economy with their work experience, skills and education level. The minimum eligibility requirement for candidates is to be sponsored by an employer in New Brunswick and intend to live and work permanently in the province.

Requirements:

  1. Age between 19 and 55 years old
  2. Receive a genuine permanent, full time offer of employment in an occupation within NOC Level 0, A, B, C, and NOC Level D skill type 7, 8 and 9 as well as NOC 6711 and NOC 6731 *
  3. Be qualified for the position (esp. regulated occupation)
  4. Have at least 12 months of work experience related to the job offer in the last 5 years before an application is submitted; or international graduates with a minimum 1-year degree, diploma, or certificate from a New Brunswick university, college, trade or technical schools, or another accredited institute, hired through the NB Skilled Worker Stream
  5. Demonstrate proficiency in each of the four language abilities equivalent to or greater than CLB 4
  6. Have completed secondary or higher education, foreign credential needs proof of ECA
  7. Intend to reside in New Brunswick
  8. Have sufficient funds to support the settlement of applicant and all dependent family members
  9. Must score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 in the selection factors for the New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream

*On February 24, 2022, a new Transport Truck Drivers Pathway was established under the Skilled Worker Stream. Applicants must obtain an LMIA. The requirements are as follows:

  1. Applicants must hold a valid New Brunswick Class 1 driver’s license when submitting the application;
  2. The applicant has at least 2 years of truck driver experience in the past 5 years;
  3. Applicants need to submit proof that they intend to settle in New Brunswick

Employer’s requirements:

Employer shall be in good standing in New Brunswick. Applications must be supported by eligible employers. To be eligible, employers must:

  1. Have an established place of business, defined as a physical structure that is owned or leased by the Employer and located within New Brunswick
  2. Have been in continuous, active operation in New Brunswick for at least two years (24-months) under the same ownership
  3. Be in good standing with any provincial and or federal legislation governing employment standards and occupational health and safety legislation
  4. Not be in violation of the Immigration and Refugees Protection Act (IRPA) or Immigration and Refugees Protection Regulations (IRPR)
  5. Have a good financial status (or need to submit corporate financial and tax information)
  6. Employers must be actively engaged in business in New Brunswick
  7. Employers must complete NBPNP-004


Strategic Initiative Stream (French)

This program is mainly for applicants with CLB5 French proficiency.

Requirements:

  1. Age between 19 and 55 years old
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in each of the four language abilities equivalent to or greater than NCLC 5 for French
  3. Have completed secondary or higher education, foreign credential needs proof of ECA
  4. Have at least 12 months of work experience related to the job offer in the last 5 years before an application is submitted; or international graduates with a minimum 2-year postsecondary diploma, or certificate from a New Brunswick university, college, trade or technical schools, or another accredited institute
  5. Make an exploratory visit for a minimum of 5 full business days in the last 12 months prior to submitting and EOI; or have a genuine permanent, fulltime offer of employment from a NB employer; or receive a direct invitation from the province of NB
  6. Intend to reside in New Brunswick
  7. Have sufficient funds to support the settlement of applicant and all dependent family members
  8. Must score a minimum of 65 points out of 100 in the selection factors for the New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream


Business Immigration Stream

This immigration category is an economic immigration pathway for experienced entrepreneurs who will establish, operate and actively manage a business while permanently living or settling in NB.

Requirements:

  1. Aged between 21 and 59 years old
  2. If buying an existing business, the business has been in continuous operation by the same owner for the 3 years prior to the purchase date; and the owner is a PR or citizen of Canada
  3. Create at least 1 full-time job for a PR or citizen of Canada living in NB
  4. Have a personal net worth of at least $500,000 CAD
  5. Make an eligible investment of not less than $150,000 CAD
  6. Control at least 33.3% equity in the business
  7. Demonstrate proficiency in each of the four language abilities equivalent to or greater than CLB 5
  8. Have completed secondary or higher education, foreign credential needs proof of ECA
  9. Intend to reside in New Brunswick
  10. Must score a minimum of 65 points out of 100 in the selection factors for the New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream


Express Entry Stream

Effective May 20, 2022, the Express Entry Stream in New Brunswick has temporarily paused, applications submitted May 20, 2022, or later, will not be finalized until further notice.

Express Entry Stream focus on 2 groups of applications: Workers and International students.

Express Entry Stream – Requirements for international students:

  1. Submitted a federal Express Entry Profile and has a valid Federal EE Profile Number and Job seeker Validation Code
  2. Aged between 22 and 55 years old
  3. Currently living in New Brunswick and hold a valid study permit
  4. Enrolled in a PGWP-eligible program at a federally-designated post-secondary institution
  5. Have at least 12 months of skilled work (NOC Level 0, A, or B) experience in primary occupation in the last 10 years before an application is submitted
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in each of the four language abilities equivalent to or greater than CLB 7
  7. Have completed secondary or higher education, foreign credential needs proof of ECA
  8. Intend to reside in New Brunswick
  9. Have sufficient funds to support the settlement of applicant and all dependent family members
  10. Must score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the selection factors for the New Brunswick EE Stream

Express Entry Stream – Requirements for workers:

  1. Submitted a federal Express Entry Profile and has a valid Federal EE Profile Number and Job Seeker Validation Code
  2. Age between 22 and 55 years old
  3. Currently living in New Brunswick and holding a valid work permit
  4. Working for a New Brunswick employer in a position that matches NOC Level 0, A, or B
  5. Have at least 12 months of skilled work (NOC Level 0, A, or B) experience in primary occupation in the last 10 years before an application is submitted
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in each of the four language abilities equivalent to or greater than CLB 7
  7. Have completed secondary or higher education, foreign credential needs proof of ECA
  8. Intend to reside in New Brunswick
  9. Have sufficient funds to support the settlement of applicant and all dependent family members
  10. Must score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the selection factors for the New Brunswick EE Stream

Previous StudiesYou completed at least two academic years of full-time study (in a program at least two years long) at a secondary or post-secondary school in New Brunswick. Full-time study means at least 15 hours of classes per week. You must have stayed in good academic standing (as set out by the school) during that time5
Arranged EmploymentYou earned points for having arranged employment as indicated in the section above.5
FamilyYou, or your spouse/common-law partner, have a relative who is 18 years or older, living in New Brunswick as a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, for at least 12 months prior to submitting your application to PETL. This relative must be a parent; grandparent; child; grandchild; sibling (child of your parent); aunt or uncle (by blood or marriage); or niece or nephew (grandchild of your parent).5

LanguageYour spouse or common-law partner has a language level in either English or French at CLB 4 level or higher in all 4 language abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing). To earn these points, you must submit your spouse or common-law partner’s test results from an approved agency when you apply. The language tests are valid for two years after the date of the test result. They must be valid on the day you apply to IRCC for permanent residence.5
Work ExperienceYour spouse or partner has at least one year of full-time work in New Brunswick with a valid work permit, or while authorized to work in Canada5
Previous Studiesour spouse or common-law partner completed at least two academic years of full-time study (in a program at least two years long) at a secondary or post-secondary school in New Brunswick. Full-time study means at least 15 hours of classes per week. You must have stayed in good academic standing (as set out by the school) during that time.5

Employer requirements:

Employer must be in good standing in New Brunswick. To be considered in good standing an employer will:

  4. be in good standing with any provincial and or federal legislation governing employment standards and occupational health and safety legislation
  5. not be in violation of the Immigration and Refugees Protection Act (IRPA) or Immigration and Refugees Protection Regulations (IRPR)
